Route Change Update: Back to the Desert—With a New Kind of Strength

Hi friends,
Tommy and Mikey here to share an update with you.
When we first began discussing this ride, we imagined crossing the deserts of the Southwest—Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. But as we planned, the thought of those stretches in the summer heat felt daunting. So, we chose a longer mountainous route instead.
But now that we’re deep into the ride, we’ve grown stronger, adaptable, and found rhythm in the early morning miles. While we’ve also learned how to listen to our bodies, hydrate, and pace ourselves through the heat.
After lots of thought and talks with our team, we’ve decided to return to our original plan—we’re heading back into the desert.
Yes, this change means our route will now clock in at around +2,400 miles instead of the +3,400 we originally mapped. And yes, we’ll miss a few of the mountain vistas we were looking forward to. But what we’re gaining is even bigger: honoring the route we set out to do from the very beginning.
We’ll still be finding our finish in Los Angeles. And the mission is still alive as ever: raising funds and awareness for the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the people affected by devastating wildfires.
We wanted to be transparent about this alteration. Thank you for believing in us, cheering us on, and being part of this journey.
Here’s to early morning rides, chasing the endless horizon, and continuing this ride with all of you by our side.
With gratitude and determination,
Tommy & Mikey
